To support our mission, we seek a Coalition Operations Manager to join our team.

The Operation Manager of the Clean Water for All Coalition will assist in leading a collaborative effort to protect clean water for all communities through a multi-pronged, integrated, nimble movement. The coalition is creating an unprecedented national movement to protect drinking water supplies, restore waterways and promote wetlands, floodplains, and other natural infrastructure. This movement has clear regional and local benefits, defending landmark clean water laws, rules, and regulations, and creating/ utilizing opportunities to advance water protections.

This is a unique and exciting job requiring someone with strong collaboration and organizational skills, passion, and willingness to work in a bi-partisan manner, and in an unsettled political climate. Of equal importance is the desire to authentically engage a diverse group of partners. The ability to adapt and multi-task is essential.

This position will directly support the Clean Water for All Coalition Director and work closely with groups, consultants, and vendors in support of the coalition's priorities.

Coalition Overview

The Clean Water for All Coalition is working to build a durable, coordinated, diverse, and inclusive movement that can quickly and effectively be activated in defense of clean water protections and to advocate for stronger clean water protections.

Clean Water for All has two mutually dependent goals: Protect and, where possible, strengthen, federal protections and funding for clean water, and safe drinking water in the United States; and Grow the movement by elevating the voices of national, regional, and local advocates from diverse backgrounds, especially those of communities and constituencies that have not always been included in conversations about the people whose lives are affected by water pollution and other clean water threats.

Responsibilities:

The Coalition Operations Manager will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating activities associated with the Coalition to include providing: general oversight for coalition activities and associated projects; grant development, submission, management, and reporting; and assist national/local/regional coalition partners in various capacities. The operations manager will work to develop and implement strategies that will lead to long-term involvement of community institutions, organizations and individuals. The operations manager will also be responsible for supporting all activities associated with the Coalition in conjunction with the Coalition Director. This work will support the Coalition and Work Groups to include: meeting scheduling and support, event planning, coalition program support and other duties as assigned.

These responsibilities include:

  • Identifying potential partners at the national and state level, and singling out specific areas for collaboration
  • Supporting a network of advocacy groups in key states to engage in federal work around Coalition priorities
  • Checking-in regularly with national and state partners to troubleshoot and ensure a high level of accountability for grant deliverables
  • Maintaining up-to-date toolkits and a comprehensive picture of potential actions for partners to engage in federal defense work across environmental issues
  • Primarily responsible liaising with the communications working group to assist with producing quality communications and campaign activity that supports our key message frames
  • Work with the Coalition Director and stakeholders to set daily priorities to ensure follow-through
  • Interfaces with working groups and partner groups to develop activities that support the Coalition's core and agreed-upon strategy
  • Manages Communications and Research consultants
  • Manages mobilization and field activities in conjunction with the Coalition Field Director
  • Assist in leading stakeholder meetings and calls
  • Work with the Coalition Director to provide regular, comprehensive updates on campaign activities including progress to goals.
  • Interface with vendors, consultants and other service providers
  • Draft and oversee the process for producing and sourcing of all campaign materials for internal and external use
  • Assist with keeping the coalition budget up to date
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in managing campaigns or communications projects
  • Able to successfully juggle multiple, complex projects under tight deadlines
  • Strong grasp of how to use communications tools strategically to support advocacy
  • Experience managing vendors
  • Familiarity and experience with the national environmental community or coalition management
  • Self-motivated and well organized
  • Ability to direct and coordinate multiple activities in a collaborative fashion.
  • Grant management and reporting
  • Experience working with environmental justice and/or health advocacy groups a plus.
  • College degree or equivalent.
  • Comfortable working in a coalition campaign environment. Familiarity with green groups a plus.
