The organization's programs focus on conserving wildlife, restoring habitat and waterways, expanding outdoor opportunities, connecting children with nature, and addressing the causes and consequences of climate change. To support our mission, we seek a Florida Education Manager to join our team.

The Florida Education Manager is a program builder responsible for advancing the education program work in the Broward County and Miami-Dade region and creating a program that attracts additional funding and staffing.  This position will have significant responsibility to develop and grow the National Wildlife Federation's education programs, with an emphasis on the Eco-Schools USA program, region-wide. This position also must provide sound management at a regional level of involvement through proactive evaluation of regional program activities.


Program Development and Management:  Develop and manage regional education programs, with an emphasis on school-based programs and community wildlife habitats.  Develop, implement, and evaluate plans to achieve programmatic objectives.  Manage all grant budgets and develop and implement plans to meet all grant deliverables. 

Fundraising: In collaboration with the Senior Director of K-12 Programs, cultivate and maintain support for regional education programs among foundations, corporations, and individual donors.  Develop and submit grant proposals and complete grant reports for corporate and foundation funders.  Make presentations on regional education work and otherwise solicit support from individual donors.  Assist the Senior Director of K-12 Programs in keeping regional donors apprised of developments, achievements, and opportunities related to education programming.  Report outcomes.

Partnership Building & Collaboration: Establish partnerships and identify potential collaborators in priority communities, with NWF regional office, affiliates, and within the NWF Education Department.  Represent NWF at key forums.

Communications & Media:  In coordination with the Education and the Communication Departments, initiate media outreach to create awareness and promote NWF's education programs through all media outlets. Work with the Marketing Department to create or adapt materials on NWF programs. As appropriate, initiate and write content for submission to NWF's various publications and membership outreach vehicles.

To accomplish that you will:

  • Establish and measure progress toward a vision for education programming that supports national and regional goals;
  • Evaluate, build and leverage existing partnerships to reach impact goals;
  • Work on and ramp up regional efforts to implement NWF's Certified, Community and Schoolyard Habitat programs within targeted communities;
  • Support NWF's Eco-Schools recruitment and participation in Broward and Miami-Dade School Districts;
  • Participate in local and regional event venues as a presenter and/or exhibitor to extend outreach to a broader educational audience;
  • Generate awareness and interest in NWF's regional programs through media and communications outlets;
  • Collaborate with NWF departments and program staff on education and habitat initiatives;
  • Assist in fundraising for both regionally focused and national education program priorities;
  • Report outcomes and evaluate program success based on long-term goals, objectives and outcomes.


  • B.A. or B.S. in, Education, Communication, Environmental Education, Science, Natural Resources or other related field. Post-graduate degrees or work preferred. 
  • 3 years relevant work experience in educational project coordination, program planning and implementation, establishing and cultivating partnerships, and fundraising/grant writing.
  • Must be bilingual in English and Spanish (proficient in speaking and writing).
  • Ability to conceive and execute programs with clear objectives, benchmarks, and deliverables. Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to develop strategic partnerships with institutional and community leaders, volunteers, and other entities whose support and cooperation is essential to success.
  • Ability to establish and cultivate relationships with institutional funders and individual donors. 
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Ability to be highly professional while also personable, approachable and outgoing.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to demonstrate initiative and a positive attitude.
  • Strong organizational oral and written communication skills, and ability to set priorities and follow through. 
  • Ability to relate to a diverse range of people and exercise cultural competence and inclusion.
  • Proficiency with word processing, and PowerPoint software.

In this role there will be local travel 10-20 times per month, overnight travel is approximately 5-10 times per year.
